Dr Carina Bodden
PhD, MSc, BSc

Dr Carina Bodden is a postdoctoral researcher aiming to elucidate the transgenerational epigenetic effects of Western-style diets on cognitive, neuronal, and metabolic processes.

A Western-style diet is not only associated with overweight and obesity due to the excessive consumption of food that is replete with saturated fats and refined sugar, but is also suspected to induce epigenetic alterations in male germ cells that can negatively influence health and disease risk in the next generation(s). Due to the epidemic proportions of obesity, a better understanding of transgenerational effects of an unhealthy diet is urgently needed.
