InSearch - unlocking the secrets of Parkinson's - Warrnambool

To promote World Parkinson's Day in April 2015, Parkinson's Victoria in partnership with the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health will launch InSearch, a series of research lectures and events across Victoria.

InSearch is a unique opportunity for people living with Parkinson’s, families, carers and health professionals to learn about current international and national research from leading researchers and clinicians. The theme of this year’s InSearch series is “Unlocking the Secrets of Parkinson’s” and will include public lectures in Melbourne, Warrnambool and Bendigo.

In 2015, InSearch will also include research lectures in Warrnambool and Bendigo. These lectures will be presented by Dr. Wesley Thevathasan and Associate Professor David Finkelstein.

Dr. Thevathasan is a Melbourne-based neurologist who will present his innovative research in the field of deep brain stimulation. Associate Professor Finkelstein will speak about his research experience as head of the Parkinson’s disease laboratory at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, including the role of alpha-synuclein and the relationship between growth factors and exercise in Parkinson’s.
