Salary: $115,726 – $120,404 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

The University of Melbourne, in collaboration with the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, is seeking a highly experienced and enthusiastic manager for the newly created Centre for Dementia.  The Centre Manager is expected to be an effective and highly experienced leader with a focus on the development of the centre and someone who is seeking to work in a dynamic, exciting and expanding academic environment. 

The Centre Manager (CM) is responsible to the Director of the Centre for Dementia for the daily business support operations including the delivery of excellent and comprehensive administrative support services, as well as the maintenance and development of stakeholder relationships and is expected to actively participate in Faculty wide and Florey Institute activities. Key to the CM’s role, under the leadership of the Director, is the development and maintenance of effective relationships with key stakeholders and the positioning of the Centre into the future as a national and international leader in dementia research.

The Centre Manager’s role is the most senior professional staff position within the Centre for Dementia and has responsibility for its operational management.  The manager will lead, support and mentor the Centre’s administrative staff to provide consolidated high quality administrative support in all aspects, including: operational and research finance, grants, fundraising and contracts management, teaching and learning activities, human resource capabilities and related activities across both the university and Florey Institute as it pertains to the Centre.  The CM will work closely with the Director and executive of the Centre to devise and enable strategies for the development, growth and achievement of the Centre’s goals.

You will have substantial experience in business and financial planning, ensuring the Centre’s resources and operations are managed strategically across both the university and Florey Institute. You will develop and foster relationships with a range of stakeholders such as international advisory committees and research theme leaders. As a senior member of the Faculty professional staff, you will work closely with the other department Managers to actively contribute to the Faculty’s administrative operations and to assist with the management of UoM/Florey wide initiatives.
