Salary packaging benefits
The Florey offers salary packaging to all its eligible employees where they can salary package expenses from a list of approved items. The Florey is exempt from having to pay FBT up to a capping limit of $15,900 each FBT year (1 April – 31 March) on salary packaging benefits provided to employees. Salary packaging can therefore increase the employee’s net salary.
Some of the approved salary packaging expense items include:
- Mortgage or rent payments
- School fees
- Personal loan repayments
- Health Insurance premiums
- Credit card monthly payment reimbursement
- HELP (formerly HECS) repayments
- Payment of utilities.
Staff can also salary package certain benefits that are not subject to FBT, over and above the $15,900 capping limit, including:
- Work-related expenses
- Additional superannuation contributions
- Meal Entertainment and venue hire/accommodation
- E-bikes (not subject to FBT if agreed km / usage is maintained)
- Novated vehicle lease (subject to FBT)
