Every year Florey staff give presentations about our research to interested community groups. Hundreds of people learn about the latest developments in brain research.
Brain Matter(s) Program
If your community group is looking for a speaker to address a meeting, one of our scientists will enthral you about the brain. Presentations usually include a 20-minute talk followed by a question and answer session. The talks cover the speaker’s area of specialisation, and common issues like:
We can help you promote your event to the public by providing a draft media release together with a photo and biography of the speaker. We can also provide logos for use in your own posters and newsletters.
Our Marketing & Communications team coordinates all bookings.

Everyone can help find the answer to brain disorders but not everyone needs a science degree to do it. You can be part of the Florey's team by doing a little fundraising to help us to buy new equipment, provide PhD scholarships, and support the scientists in the laboratories.
You might like to sell your hand crafts or hold a garage sale. You might organise a simple coffee morning at home or something bigger like a ball or public event. Or you might simply like to introduce a friend to the Florey.
Anyone wishing to raise funds in Victoria must, by law, have an ‘Authority to Fundraise’, and we can assist you with that. Each state has different legislation, so please contact us to discuss requirements if you are interested in raising funds for the Florey in a state other than Victoria.
Once your event is approved, we will provide you with confirmation and a letter giving you legal ‘Authority to Fundraise’ for the Florey. We can also offer you some fundraising ideas and all the administrative help you need to hold a successful event. But before you start, please complete and send us a Community Fundraiser Proposal and Agreement form.
