Students of Howard Florey Institute (SOHFI)
The Students of Howard Florey Institute postgraduate group (SOHFI) was established in 1999 to enhance the academic, social, and professional lives of HFI students. SOHFI also acts to represent postgraduate students to both the Florey and the University, and is affiliated to the University of Melbourne Postgraduate Association.
SOHFI aims to:

- Student Retreat – Mount Hotham June 2007
- enhance the academic and professional life of SOHFI Postgraduate Students.
- encourage social interaction of students within the Howard Florey Institute.
- represent the students of the Howard Florey Institute within the Institute and the University.
SOHFI organises a variety of social activities each year for the fun and enjoyment of all students at minimal cost. The year kicks off with a hot sausage and a warm welcome to all new students and staff at the annual SOHFI BBQ. Various events follow throughout the year, from regular DVD nights to go-karting, ten-pin bowling and curry dinners.
The social highlight of the year is the student retreat. The retreat is a great way to form new friendships, as well as learn about other students' work and even take home a few ideas for your own project. Held in conjunction with the retreat is a symposium that highlights career opportunities in science, including those outside academic research.
