Students Of the Florey Neuroscience Institutes (SOFI)
The Students of Howard Florey Institute postgraduate group (SOFI) was established in 1999 to enhance the academic, social, and professional lives of HFI students. SOFI also acts to represent postgraduate students to both the Florey and the University, and is affiliated to the University of Melbourne Postgraduate Association.
SOFI organizes a variety of social activities each year for the express purpose of fun and enjoyment for all students - at minimal cost. The year kicks off with a hot sausage and a warm welcome to all new students and staff at the annual SOFI BBQ. Various events follow throughout the year from DVD nights to climbing, laser-wars and dinners. The social highlight of the year, the student retreat, is a great way to form new friendships as well as learn about other student’s work and even take home a few ideas for your own project.
SOFI aims to:

- 2010 Yarra Valley Retreat
- enhance the academic and professional life of SOFI Postgraduate Students.
- encourage social interaction of students within the Florey Neuroscience Institutes.
- represent the students of the Florey Neuroscience Institutes within the Institute and Melbourne University.
