The Mental Health Division conducts research to understand what causes psychiatric and neurodegenerative illness and to find better ways to diagnose and treat them.  Ultimately, we hope our research will lead us to prevent or cure them.

The illnesses on which our research focuses are:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Major depression

Due to the synergies between illnesses and research methods, we have also conducted research into autism, motor neurone disease / Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies and addiction.
