Fulltime Public Health Senior Project Manager: 12 month appointment

Florey Neuroscience Institutes (FNI) is an amalgamation of the Brain Research Institute, National Stroke Research Institute and Howard Florey Institute and has expanded with the development of a state of the art facility in partnership with the Mental Health Research Institute and University of Melbourne.

A Senior Project Manager is sought to play a major role in several health services research projects in stroke at Florey Neuroscience Institutes - Stroke Division (Austin campus). The successful candidate will manage the AuSCR (Australian Stroke Clinical Registry) project a nationwide stroke registry established in Australia, and the Stroke123 NHMRC partnership project which involves the use of AuSCR and other datasets for stroke across Australia. The AuSCR register is a web-tool used to collect a minimum data set of acute care information including the treatment and outcomes of all hospitalised patients who have had a stroke or transient ischaemic attack. The candidate is also expected to contribute to finalising the Victorian Stroke Telemedicine project.

The applicant is required to have:

  • Previous experience in successfully managing large collaborative research projects in health amongst a multidisciplinary team and in different geographical locations
  • Evidence of high level project management skills
  • Skills for appropriately managing and maintaining project documentation, ethical and regulatory requirements and patient data
  • The ability to make decisions based on sound judgment
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Proficient computing and analytical skills
  • Write reports and publications
  • Apply for grants
  • Manage project budgets and staff
  • Travel for work, as required  

The successful candidate must have:

  •  A relevant qualification in health or science preferably with post-graduate qualifications
  • Proof ofdeveloped project management skills
  • Proof of oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; and the capacity to successfully complete several tasks concurrently and achieve deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direct junior staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Familiarity with data management systems including online tools
  • Experience with ethics applications
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail
  • Interest and knowledge in web-based technologies for data capture

Desirable:

  • Prior experience undertaking research in stroke or cardiovascular disease
  • Post-graduate public health, epidemiology/biostatistics qualifications (e.g PhD)
  • Clinical background in allied health, medicine or nursing
  • Experience in clinical quality registry applications or large online databases
  • Peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience with competitive grant attainment
  • Experience with web-based technologies for data capture
     

Salary range: SRO1 to SRO3 - $76,676 to $ 82,428 (neg depending on experience). Salary packaging available.  1 year appointment, immediate commencement available.
