Research Interests
- Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic demyelinating disease that involves progressive oligodendrocyte and neural attrition. Our Group examines the mechanisms of oligodendrocyte death and investigates cellular signalling within oligodendrocytes and within brain stem cells in order to design novel therapies to enhance nervous system repair in MS.
Laboratory Techniques
- Laser capture microdissection
- Microarray analysis
- Immunohistochemistry
- Western blot analysis
- Cell culture and viral transfection
- Real time PCR
- Molecular cloning
- Mouse models of MS
- Transgenic mice
Dementia
More than 162,000 Australians have been diagnosed with dementia, with perhaps as many again in the early stages of dementia.
